- PAST progress on the new Burbank Studio.
The climbing wall is up! That is
right, our new traverse
climbing wall is now finished.
It is 8ft tall and covers about
200sqft. Bralio Garcia, Julian's
dad, used his construction
expertise to make Sensei
Kim's concept a reality and
give us this super cool
addition to our new space.
Julian helped a ton and Melina
and Karol helped with the
finishing touches of getting the
hand holds on. They are blue
and black and some are
shaped like bugs and other
critters. It is so fun and a great
work-out. We were all
sweating after testing it out,
even Bralio had to give it a try.
We also got the outside trim
painted and some interior
details like our
doorway-double-dragons.
If you are in the area and see
the front door open, we are
probably there working so
come say "HI" and check it
out!

- Some quick news events-
- The last test went great! The next test is April 25th.
- Sensei Kim will be gone Sat. the 7th taking the Grappling team kids to a tournament in
Valencia all morning. Karen Sempai will be teaching the Lil'Dragons and Blue
Dragons that day. Please show her support and respect. (grappling is obviously
cancelled as the team will be in Valencia:) - There will be no kids classes on Sat. April 4th. Students may make up this class any
day the following week. - We have ALL new Adult instructors! So if you tried us before....come try us out again,
we think you will love the new line-up of Alder Hample for 10th Planet, Scott Epstein
for MMA and Victor Acosta for Muay Thai. See the adults website
The Kids Grappling Team did their first No-Gi
tournament at Big John McCarthy's Ultimate
Training Academy this last weekend. Though
there were not many competitors the
competition was tough. The boys did great
and medaled even though they lost their
fights. The most important thing is that THEY
DID IT! (and we will learned a great deal on
what we need to work on) Great job guys I
am very proud of you.
We plan on doing Best of the West on April

- Sensei Kim and Coach Alder are competing at the Abu Dhabi Tournament in Domiguez
Hills so we may have a substitute teaching on Sat. the 23rd. - The adult program is planning a Vegas trip to support Shigeki in his pro-mma debut, so
we will be closed and cancel classes Sat. May 30th. - PNO is canceled for May due to the Vegas trip.

- News for July
- The test went great. The student's of the session are Julian
and Mason. AND Declan skipped 2 belt colors! - Our Free PNO and Sticker Party was awesome. Man, those
kids have a ton of stickers! - Sensei Kim, who is also a student of Master Eddie Bravo,
received her Purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu from Eddie this last
Tues. - Eddie Bravo is going to continue teaching Advanced Jiu-
Jitsu classes for the adults and we are adding more day,
eve and weekend Jiu-Jitsu classes for the adults too. - Also a heads up for July we will be closed Sat. the 10th of
July as the team heads to Grapplers Quest Vegas. We will
however be open the 4th.

We had a great time at Grappler's Quest
in Las Vegas at the UFC 100 Fan Expo.
Julian placed 3rd and had an awesome
first match. Victor and I both won our
first match but lost the following 2. We
all learned a lot and had a really great
time. The Expo was huge too and there
were TONs of UFC and WEC fighters to
see and great booths and products to
check out. Thanks everyone for the
support, especially Master Vic and Scott

- The test for Lil'Dragons and Blue Dragons is Sat. August
22nd at the regular class times. Sensei will let the students
know who is testing the week prior. Look for a permission
form. - U.S. Open Submission Grappling and Pankration is August
29th and 30th. The team will be competing as are many of the
adults and Sensei too. All students are welcome to come
watch and support the team.
- Due to the US Open we will be closed for kids classes Sat.
Aug 29th. make-ups can be any day the week following. - Parent's Night Out will be two weeks after due to labor Day
so- Sat. Sept. 12th AND NOW HAS LOWER RATES! (only $24
per student and $12 for siblings over 4) that cheaper than a
baby sitter and they get pizza and a movie! - Women Train for FREE through August in our Adult
programs! Help us kick off our all new Woman's Jiu-Jitsu
class on Fridays at 6:30pm with a free month of training in
any of our adult programs. New students only. See the adult

"The Iceman" Chuck Liddell was at
Blue Dragon Martial Arts/ 10th Planet
Burbank recently to film a bit for
Dancing with the Stars! It was great to
meet Chuck(again) and have him hit
some bags at the Dojo. The spot will
be airing mid. Sept so keep an eye out.
Thanks to Scott and all of Chuck's
group and the Dancing with the Stars
crew...it was a pleasure.

The team headed to LA for the US Open and
did awesome! Julian was a bit sick but got out
there anyway, so he is a winner no matter what

As a whole ,10th Planet Burbank and HQ had 30
competitors and brought home over 19 medals
including 9 Golds! WOW!
Way to go guys.

black belt in Vale Tudo under Marco Ruas and
a Pro-MMA fighter . Thanks to my cheer squad
and Sophia and Isabella for making the signs.

Georges St. Pierre was at Blue Dragon Martial Arts in Burbank this last
week! The UFC Welterweight Champion came in to work some drills for
his upcoming fights and worked out right along side our Lil'Dragons.
Georges was a very respectful, humble and polite Martial Artist - you
can tell he got his start in Karate (Kyokushin). I was told one reason why
he began training in Karate as a kid was because he was getting picked
on in school. So see kids, Karate can be a great tool for you now and in
the future, no matter your goals.
Karate is fast becoming one of the new foundation arts for Mixed Martial
Artists along side - wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu.

Oct. is crazy busy at Blue Dragon !
- Oct 15th marks our 1 yr anniversary! Thanks everyone for all the help, and support over the last year. We will try to
get a party together soon but things are so busy.....We are doing a Blue Dragon T-shirt contest to make a special
"Anniversary Shirt". Draw a Blue Dragon (any style) on a reg. sized white paper. No blood, no backgrounds. Due Oct.
8th. Everyone will vote, if you win you get your dragon art on the Anniversary shirt and a free shirt! - Congrats to the Davila family- Dad- Master Vic, son- Victor, and uncle Jose all medaled at Naga in Vegas! Both

The new year has been crazy at BDMA/10th Burbank. So
much has happened and it's not even March yet!

Adventure with Sensei Kim for a special "thank you"
for helping set such great examples.
- The Grappling team competed in the Kids World
Championships- Vic-Tory placed 1st! and Julian got
4th but had the best match to date.
- We had another test and the students did great
(check the kids page for Student of the Session) we
even promoted some kids in the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu
KIDS! program. Allison and Allan are now yellow belts.
- A bunch of Pro-fighters have joined up with 10th
Planet and a few with 10th Planet BURBANK
instructors Scott "Einstein" Epstein and Alder
Hample! Including:
- Dan "the Outlaw" Hardy, Chuck "the Iceman" Liddell,
George Sotiropoulos , and Matt Horwich.
- Our very own "Einstein" will be on the new season of
the Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV. He is the ground
coach for Chuck for his rematch against Tito Ortiz
AND Team Liddell on the show. The first episode airs
Weds. March 31st. We will be watching this at the
OFFICE (bar and grill) in Burbank, come join us.
- Alder Hampel is now the ground coach for Dan Hardy
for his upcoming UFC match against Georges St.
Pierre for UFC 111 on March 27th!
